Structural Testing and investigation work is on the increase in Ireland. Tom Callanan is now heading up this work for Testconsult Ireland as Manager of our Structures Division, and has provided below a brief summary of some recent contracts we have been working on across Ireland:
Bridge Investigation at Doonflin Bridge, Co Sligo
Testconsult Ireland carried out a structural investigation of a single span masonry arch with reinforced concrete extension on Doonflin Bridge in Co Sligo as part of an assessment programme for the National Roads Authority. The work included:
- Cover Surveys
- Concrete Coring
- Masonry Coring
- Breakouts
Load Testing of Apartment Complex – North Dublin
Testconsult carried out load testing on 4 no. balconies and a podium slab at an exclusive apartment complex in North Dublin . Each balcony was monitored using 4 no. LVDT's recording the movement of the balcony during loading and unloading.
Barrier Testing on New Stand – Galway Racecourse
Testconsult Ireland recently completed an assessment in-service of crowd barriers on the new Stand at Galway Racecourse. Each barrier was tested using our specially fabricated anchoring system.
Anchor Testing of T32 Vertical Reinforcement on M50
Testconsult are working with Siac/Ferrovial JV on the M50 upgrade in Dublin City . As part of the work 11 no. large diameter T32 vertical anchors were tested using a 50 ton hollow jack with specially fabricated grips. As part of this project the following was also carried out:
- TDR2 Integrity Testing of piled foundations
- Anchor testing for bridge barriers
- Material Testing including blacktop coring
