Dr Thomas Callanan B.E. PhD M.IEI was recently appointed Manager of the Structures Group in Ireland .  This is a new post following growth in this sector within the company.

He has nine years experience working on varied structural projects including four years of research into the effects of chloride-induced deterioration of concrete highway structures and investigation into the effects of cementitious replacement materials on the deterioration rates caused by chloride ingress. 

Prior to joining Testconsult, Thomas has carried out many investigations into the causes, effects and severity of structural deterioration on bridges in-service in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and in England and since joining has continued to be involved with inspection and testing of structures both at the construction stage and in-service.'

Work carried out in the department also includes Pile testing, structural investigations, proof load testing, instrumentation and monitoring and noise and vibration studies. Operating throughout Ireland , Tom and his team offer services to consultants, contractors and local authorities.
