Testconsult Engineers conquer 3 Highest Peaks in Great Britain – August 2011

7 fearless ‘mountaineers’ left Testconsult’s Warrington headquarters one Saturday morning aiming to raise the company flag on the three highest peaks in the UK in 24 hours. Every last detail was planned in advance,
including risk assessments, rations, liquids and transport – or so we though until the restricted 56mph minibus turned up!!

Everything would now be rushed (apart from the transport). At 1700 on a beautiful evening we took our first steps onto Ben Nevis, summited through the snow and returned to the car park just as the sun set then headed
south to the Lake District, reaching the base of Scafell Pike in the early hours. The ascent started at 0300 in darkness, following a snake of head torches winding up the mountain into the rain and clouds. Soaked to the skin
the summiteers returned to make the final leg of the journey to Snowdon.

Although making steady progress the 24 hour deadline loomed rapidly. Heads were jolted awake as the minibus wound its way round the back roads of Snowdonia, when as described by the driver ‘a rock jumped out from the
side of the road and slashed the tyre,’ dejected at our fate all hands jumped out and made a tyre change that a formula 1 pit crew would envy. Finally at the base of Snowdon the team pushed forward through the tiredness and sustained injuries, up to the summit and returning to the car park in a total time of 23 hours 15 minutes since the start. A pint of local brew went down very well in Betws-y-Coed to celebrate the achievement.

The participants would like to thank the Testconsult management team for supporting us throughout.
