The Octopus 3 is the key component in a robust and expandable PC based logging system. The logger uses a permanent connection to a host PC incorporated in the logger enclosure, this controls data acquisition and stores collected samples. Using the integral RS 485 interface, the system can be expanded to up to 256 channels, all being controlled by the host PC.
The system supports easy connection to networks, modems and GPRS routers for uploading data to a central data server. The host computer uses proprietary software which can be easily configured to perform sophisticated triggered acquisition tasks and raise alarms by sending warning SMS and emails to predefined system guardians.
Octopus 3 systems can be made accessible to site personnel for ‘real-time’ monitoring. And data displayed on our Data Server at www.testresult.co.uk. Typical applications would be jacking operations, or monitoring of bridges and structures whilst construction work is undertaken and a quick response is required to any change in measurements.
